Malak Jân (1906 - 1993)
Reflections
One should not guide others so long as one remains partial to the outcome.

The soul matures through adversity, not complacency and comfort. We must endeavor to realize our aspirations.

Of good or bad news, one should no more rejoice than despair.

The essence of perfection lies in mastery of the imperious self.

A seeker’s spiritual state is inversely related to his or her enchantment with the material world.

It is our human responsibility to benefit others through the positive traits with which we have been endowed.

As religious practices and rites undergo successive transformations and become commonplace over time, they become increasingly detached from their original meaning.

Know yourself if you wish to know the other.

The reign of the imperious self results in a loss of spiritual yearning.

There are two things I dislike: one is jealousy, dishonesty, and deceit; the other is the imposition of misplaced religious prescriptions.

Discernment and maturity are the fruits of experience or adversity; indifference, pessimism, and caviling stem from immaturity.
